hang Dali (1963 Harbin) is well known for his photographs, images and graffiti art work focused on China's rapid modernization and the rapid destruction of the old urban landscape. His graffiti art images are well known for their large, anonymous heads and the singature AK47. He painted the heads allover Beijing. He began painting them in Italy. He has also created a project that revisits the origins of Mao's portraits, many of which had been doctored or retouched and published by the government. He also has portraits of migrant workers made with resin casts. He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 1987. He lived in Italy from 1989 to 1995, and now lives in Beijing. |
