 hanghai Art Museum is one of the city's premier art spaces. The museum is located on the northwest corner of Shanghai's People's Park near the Shanghai Opera House, the MoCA and the Shanghai Museum of Antiquities. The museum, which once served as a horse racing club, was renovated and opened to the public in 2000.
With 6,000 square meters of exhibition halls and more than 8,000 collected works, the Shanghai Art Museum has become one of China's leading musuems of modern art. The museum has increasingly exhibited the works of contemporary artists. And it has been home to the the Shanghai Biennale since 2000.
