| Xiang Jing (1968 Beijing) has emerged in the art scene in China as a leading sculptor. Her works have become popular in the auction world over the past two years. Her fiberglass images depict mostly women, holding cigarettes and posing half naked, often with sour faces and flabby waistlines. Her images seems to concentrate on the woman's figure, and few of her sculptures show beautiful women with perfect shapes. Her women are more natural, real and imperfect. The art critic Li Xianting has praised her works. And the British collector Charles Saatchi has added them to his huge collection. Xiang Jing lives and works in Shanghai now. |
